A day at a time & Going beyond the comfort zone

I really wish creativity came out quicker.  Instead I am stuck with trying to pull up past inspirations and find ways to improve on it.  The sketch on the left must have been done… i’unno…. 5 years ago? maybe?  I have tons of sketch books that contain my oodles and oodles of sketches over the years.  I’m just glad that I have the option of looking back.

One thing that i have been meaning to do more of is to move beyond just sketching on paper.  I have always enjoyed sketching something real quick. Usually it would just be a quick character sketch, some expressions, or the occasional background scene.   Over time though, I have found  that it is all i would do, and it felt as if I was limiting myself.   To improve beyond my skill, maybe I’ll have to break that limiter and just go all the way more often.

I’ll tell ya this much though, I have been drawing lots recently, and it feels good.  Now I just need to push myself harder.

Speaking of going beyond sketching, here is another drawing I did recently taken beyond just a sketch. Even inking takes a lot of effort.

I’m loving the boots on the left.

Now to sleep. Whew….
